PLYMOUTH, Wisconsin.—(March 16, 2007)—We are proud to announce the outstanding accomplishments of our premium, specialty cheese in the prestigious United States Championship Cheese Contest held on March 13th in Milwaukee. The winning streak continues for our internationally recognized SarVecchio™ Parmesan, formerly Stravecchio, as it swept the Open Class Hard Natural cheese category with a first place, best of class win. Competing in the same category, our SarVecchio™ Asiago also earned distinction with a 4th place performance. The Open Class category is an especially competitive field with over 27 entries from 17 different cheese manufacturers. Another impressive performance was delivered by Dolcina™ Gorgonzola which was awarded a third place medal in the Gorgonzola category competing against 9 other entries from a variety of respected blue-veined cheese manufacturers. The United States Championship Cheese Contest is the nation’s largest cheese and butter contest featuring over 50 categories of competition with a history of recognizing artisan cheesemaking tradition dating from the late 1890’s. Currently held on a biennial basis, the contest receives over 1,000 entries and awards medals in each category for the first through third place finalists as well as certificates of recognition for fourth and fifth place. Each cheese entry is subjected to a rigorous evaluation including technical measures, visual presentation and flavor performance indicators by a respected panel of cheese industry experts. We are excited to celebrate these exceptional achievements and recognize the continued importance of producing award-winning products that deliver high quality to our customers with consistent, culinary performance and innovative flavors. We are proud to say we produce the “best of the best!”
